The Army came to my highschool my senior year and put on an exhibition. They had Humvees and APCs and a massive wall of speakers that would make a passerby deaf at 40 yards. You were able to get out of class if you went to the event and listened to their pitch. I was one of like 4 kids who didn’t go. Parents weren’t told about this in advance, and there were recruiters there with pens waiting.
TBF, my school did have JROTC program but still… I think thats what set off my long history of being anti-that.

I still keep touch with some old coworkers. They give me all the dirt on how bad its been since i left.
-It took 3 positions to replace me when i was “let go”.
-They have gone through dozens of people in the couple years since ive left.
-They lost a couple BIG contracts because of how many mistakes and mis-shipments there were (warehouse job).
-Their ratings have gone from 4.5+ to a solid 3.
Just for fun, i applied to their indeed listing last year because i know it costs them money, and it would set off my old boss. I got a phone call from my old coworker almost instantly laughing hysterically at how the boss was screaming and yelling with her mom over the phone and in tears.

Talking with a co worker who is “devout” Christian. He comes out of the blue with “Man, those Iranians are just savage. They want to destroy the world!”
I cut him off and said they are just normal people like you and me and how we should show compassion and love for our neighbors.
He comes back with “they aren’t my neighbors”
…
Then he just walks away because i challenged his world view and he didn’t know how to handle it.

And draft dodging is a good way to end up in another country with no citizenship and working in the death camps. Id rater go out trying to make a difference than just wasting away as slave labor, forgotten and alone.

The alternative to this is to join, get deployed, then mess everything up as bad as possible. Be completely useless, worse than useless even. Fuck up every assignment you’re given, hopefully so badly it causes lots of damage and possibly save some lives.

I made up a menu for my job and its loaded onto the TV behind the counter with a USB. The only way to reach the USB slot was to tape the USB to a pencil. The pencil is integral to the operation of that menu. Its even in the SOP now to make sure not to remove the pencil.

If you haven’t already, try sleeping with a noise generator. I got a little white noise machine that cost like 8 bucks and its been a godsend for my tinnitus.
