Never seen the term apicalypse and just had to say it’s fantastic.
That was my fediverse cohort too.

Decades ago I was a young backpacker and saw other folks with the maple leaf on their stuff. Went to chat and they admitted they were Americans who had sewn it on so people would be nice to them.
I was simultaneously annoyed at them (I’d have been pissed but they did buy me an apology pint) and proud of Canada for the reputation.

Amazing! 70s choices were so danged bold! Yeah, not all worked out but…!
Most of my walls are a fun but oft complained about, green. Here’s the walls, with her highness basking in having successfully dethroned me:

I’m more curious, do y’all have a green carpet? Am I about to find out I’m cllourblind? Is this outdoors?

Oh fully agree. I’m in a similar spot though I’m an okay-ish manager, I don’t like it and much prefer my actual job.
I’m not sure how common my experience is as I work in a large non profit and while union, my union group is pretty free wheeling (fewer protections but fewer restrictions.) Anyway, we’ve gotten around the problem by just adding words to or changing words in my title.
This has had the effect of allowing me to do my job, get raises as basically deserved and look like I’m advancing. Admittedly, my manager etc are very understanding and most of the senior leadership knows me, so take from that what you will.

I wouldn’t want the hardest worker to be the automatic promotion. We’ve all worked with someone who means well, works hard but is dumb as a brick. God help us if they get promoted.
Ahhh, that makes sense.
In retrospect, I suppose I could’ve googled it but it’s always nice to have an excuse to dig out the anthology.
Hmm, are you sure on the dates? The March 12th 1989 is a Sunday strip without the transmogrifier, and the 3rd of December is about mailing Santa.
… BUT… The cardboard box the beanie comes in first shows on March 11 (with the action concluding on the 18th talking about all the fun they’ll have with this great cardboard box.
(Admittedly, looking at it now, the box does seem a bit too small for them to fit in but…)

Not mine but one day my buddy’s 6 year old asked “what’s parking tips?” My buddy being a veteran dad gives him some generic parking advice, doesn’t think much of it until later when he hears his kid singing along to the shaboozy song but instead of “everyone at the bar getting tipsy” he’s sing about how everyone getting parking tips.
Oh shit, I think this is the start of the longest plot in Calvin and Hobbes?
Certainly one of the plot points with the most long term effects as that box is the transmogrifier, the time travel something and the duplicator?
Did you mean to screenshot the post?
Or if this is a “but you participate in society…” Comment, cool. I like spreading the word about piefed so folks know there is a system where you can note users and thus moderate your responses before expending good faith effort etc.

Admittedly, the .ml works too. I just hate tarring everyone with the same brush but damned if y’all don’t keep reinforcing the stereotype.
(No idea how a note only I can see is social credit but hey, what are facts to a fool?)
Lemmy didn’t have a system like that when I was using it. But yeah, it’s super useful.

I just asserting that people generally had more down time in the past.
By using total instead of share. Which also means there is even a more gigantic number of people with more wealth and leisure than any point in human history.
Do you see why using total number is mind numbingly silly?
Posts like these make me so happy for piefed’s note system so I now know never to engage with your ignorant ass.

Are you trolling?
The number of people living happily in luxury unimaginable to 99% of people who have ever lived is also FAR greater than at any time in human history.

About .6% of the world is considered as living in modern slavery.
In say, the feudal era, that percentage would be some 70 or 80 times higher.
Maybe you should do some reading?
Most people, even those who scream the loudest about human rights, tend to wear sweatshop clothes made by kids who occasionally burn to death because it’s slightly cheaper to not have fire escapes.
Not enjoying an artist who in most cases isn’t even profiting off of my enjoyment just seems silly. I prefer to focus my efforts on the actual harms to which I, like so many of us, really do contribute.
