  • I think you might have misread something. I called them embarrassing, and agreed they were wilding, tempting jail, and should be better, then said they were poorly starting an unnecessary fight. I’m really not rooting for them, and I’m not sure how it could come off as such, unless it’s because of the word “should.”

Edit: ohh, maybe you thought I thought the employees lost or started it? They pretty clearly didn’t though.

  • but I’m a stickler for enthusiasm at all stages. I have standards about consent that should be normal for everyone, everywhere, always, and the fact that they aren’t is really fucked up.

FTFY. It feels weird to thank you for something that really should be the norm, but it’s really nice to see it written out clearly for everyone to see.

Before anyone starts complaining about their poor kinks that they just can’t help: I’m into CNC and TPE, and they are both incomparably better experiences for everyone involved when everyone continuously enthusiastically consents. You (may) just need to add a layer of obfuscation, depending on the scene, but that’s easily managed through the traffic light system or safe words/signs.

  • Emphasis mine:

The court documents allege Indyke and Kahn also used another Epstein company registered in the US Virgin Islands to write cheques worth $300,000, made out to young women or to an immigration lawyer involved in helping trafficked women stay in the US.

Well, the bold part is a euphemism and a half. I’d probably phrase it as “helping Epstein keep/hold trafficked women (edit:) trafficking victims, many of whom were children, in the US,” but that’s just because I realize how insane it is to suggest that attorney helped these women in any meaningful way.

    Their response, by the way:

Kahn did not write cheques “for young women and/or an immigration lawyer on Epstein’s behalf, as he was not a signatory on any of Epstein’s bank accounts until shortly before Epstein’s death,” said his lawyer Ruzumna.

Notice how the italicized sections don’t line up and the attorney is completely sidestepping the issue?

Honestly, even if Kahn an Indyke actually somehow didn’t know anything about the trafficking, that would imply such negligent bookkeeping and legal advisement that it seems like they should be their own crimes. At the absolute least (again, under the insane supposition that they were was blindsided by Epstein’s crimes), they should have to pay back their earnings for the course of their employment to the estate to be held for settlements and never be allowed to work managing money or as an attorney again.

But realistically, Kahn and Indyke knew exactly what was going on and turned a blind eye to it out of greed and/or their own personal interest in the crimes.

  • To be fair, from that article:

At the time, the nine-person board was in favor of removing Unanue from the company entirely, but the regulations of the family-owned business, founded in 1936 by Prudencio Unanue Ortiz — Robert Unanue’s grandfather — would not allow it, as noted by the New York Post.

Though shitty company policies are also a good reason to boycott a company.

  • An anonymous internet allows Nazis to connect with each other without fear of social or legal consequences, thereby raising their confidence in/dedication to their ideology.

It’s certainly not on a par, but the same thing happens with weird kinks- I have one I probably would have forgotten about if it weren’t something that I then found online. Instead, because I saw that it wasn’t just me, I had the confidence to tell partners about it. And it was only because I found queer online communities that I was able to explore my gender identity and sexuality in the same way.

I absolutely support an open and anonymous internet, I just don’t know if there’s a way to stamp out bigotry and fascism while having one.

Or rather, I know how to do it, I just don’t know if we can. The answer is absolute solidarity among non bigots against anonymous bigots: cancel your contracts with platforms that host fascists or bigots, tell them and everyone else why, and get others to do the same.

Of course, at this point there are enough of them to have their own economy, so it’s not going to work now. This is more like the wound care to prevent a recurrence of the infection, instead of the infection treatment itself.
