Environment looks pretty good. Link looks over-designed.
Inconsistent, like two separate people were in charge of what the game looked like and they didn’t agree with eachother at all. You can tell there was an attempt at retaining the games distinct style in some of the character design and and animations, but they went WAAAAAY overboard with Link’s design which is for some reason extremely overly-detailed compared to the NPCs. There also the issue of the game world itself seeming almost obsessed with geometry. Kokiri foreat may have looked flat in the original but it’s like a huge overcorrection in the remake. Especially compared to the Hyrule castle town which looks like it was remade with much more sense.
No puzzle will be a puzzle
No story twist will be a twist
I know the route through the lost woods and can get the biggoron sword without any thought.
I know everything.
I don’t think I’ll play it.
We must be twins. I love the cutscene where kapora is flying link to kakariko village after leaving the top of death mountain. I purposely have saved files where I know a specific cutscene that I love will happen, and I leave it. Whenever I decide to smoke one, I’ll get ripped and start that file and watch beautiful cutscenes.
if they made Majora’s mask I probably would play it
I hope you got to enjoy tears of the kingdom because I really liked it.
I hate it. It looks like shit. The overly designed tunic is disgusting and reeks of the issues with video games today. We are too focusing on the fact of making shit look cool instead of making shit look like a video game which is a constant issue over the many many myriad of multiple graphic generations.
Also I really wish Nintendo would MOVE THE FUCK ON FROM OOT. GOD DAMN IT.
Tl;dr: gamer don’t want shiny picture, gamer wants game
It looks great, Ii wore out at least two controllers playing that back in the day. I am happy for those that get to experience it for the first time.
Looks great. I wish Mario 64 got the same treatment in its recent rereleases. The game’s got good bones, but it has some rough edges with respect to controls that we could fix with a modern C stick, and I don’t think early 3D graphics have the same sentimental value that pixel art does.
I kinda disagree on early 3d graphics not having the same sentimental value, but for some reason its specifically the ps1 wobbly style 3D graphics for me that do it, maybe because it is so distinct, almost in the way pre-rendered 3d backgrounds from 90s era pc games are. For whatever reason the n64 just kinda looks like shit to me and the dreamcast looks like it belongs in the ps2/xbox era anyway.
I put it down to texture filtering. The N64 filters its textures so they end up all blurry, while on PlayStation they’re… er, not.
I guess I’m happy for those who have never played it before. It looks pretty good. For me, I’ve already played through this game at least 3 times. It was the same with the Link’s Awakening remake. Hopefully they’ll use the engine to make something new soon.
Shit. I’m going to have to buy a Switch 2! And it’s not even for a new Zelda
I got the remake of links awakening because I never finished I the original.
I’ve beaten OoT on N64 & the master quest on GameCube…
Oooh. They made it pretty. Yawn.
That looks fantastic. I’ve played and beaten the game on both the N64 and the Wii, but to enter that world again with it looking so good… very tempting 😁
Overall I think it looks fine. I think the spirit of the original is there.
I don’t like how shiny some parts are, especially when they’re wet. It just looks bad like a simple filter slapped on.
I’ll probably play it at some point, but I don’t need to play it day one.
i’m pretty bumbed. a remake of OoT that incorporated the improved combat and map design of the newer games would be an insta buy, but it seems like the same game but with a focus group approved Nintendo-Hire-This-Man hyper detailed art direction. the “playing the songs into the mic” thing is neat at the very least, but other than that i can’t think of a reason to play this over the original
I have qualms about it as well. Hype realism freaks me out sometimes. Can’t even handle the 3ds version. I luckily got a Nintendo and first edition OoT on eBay. I stick to that.
I think I am done with Nintendo because of their greed. I won’t buy their games or any consoles for this reason.
It’s one thing to make money, but it’s quite another to take advantage of loyal customers, keep tariff refunds, file frivolous lawsuits, and overcharge for everything.
Looks neat still not buying s2
