Lukas Graham is pretty big. And Finneas is Billie Eilish’s brother and producer. He makes a ton of money.

The other two though are absolutely standing on business and taking a hit.

Fair enough, I didn’t know any of them before but it’s not really my style of music. I still feel like they are nowhere near as popular as Sheeran.

Beoga actually sound quite nice classic irish folk music!

Well I guess Lukas Graham only had the one big album a while back. So good on them too for standing up.

You are right that none of them are as big as Ed Sheeran though.

Am I the only one who feels this is a manufactured outrage? I don’t listen to either Pink or Ed, but there is so many other issues to be outraged about. Or are people just channeling their anger towards Ed.

All the reactions just seems out of proportion to me.

You’re probably not the only one. I’m sure there’s plenty of folks who either support or deny the genocide who feel the same way.

Having said that, I disagree with you. To give an analogy, imagine that Macklemore had said something along the lines of “the holocaust is a bad thing, and the jews, Poland, France, etc deserve to be free” and then got kicked off the tour. The backlash would’ve been immense. There would be calls for cancelling the tour, and rightly so. It would be completely backwards to kick Macklemore off the tour, and people would wonder if Sheeran was some kind of neo nazi. Nothing manufactured about that.

The only difference here is the target of the genocide and the countries being invaded. But denying it or supporting it, or harming people for speaking up about it is equally terrible.

My comment has nothing to do with the genocide. It has to do with fact that to me it’s such a strong reaction and now being fed by the media, that it feels manufactured. Like some distraction tactic from all the real shit that is happening. To me, I don’t understand why everyone is just piling on. It seems disproportionate. Or people using this situation to target their anger about other issues.

To be clear it is the reaction that feels controlled outrage, not the cause of the issue.

Just look at the Reddit /all main page and more than 50% are all posts about Ed.

Like the genocide? Idk, this feels related to the genocide.

        • Like some distraction tactic from all the real shit that is happening.

          Genocide isn’t real. Got it.

We’re privileged not to have to be living it day after day. We’re privileged to be able to scroll on our phones and ignore news that makes us feel icky.

So many others aren’t. Silence is speech and Ed’s choice to speak on behalf of Israel’s judeofascist government is and ought to be news.

Like, for real bro… What the hell are you even saying with your complaint?

Do you feel like the same reaction would be equally manufactured if Macklemore was talking about the holocaust? Because to me in either case the outrage feels like a very normal reaction. Sheeran’s doing the exact opposite of the right thing, with the context being one of the worst crimes that a group of people can commit.

And the media reporting in this seems part of the normal manufacturing consent operation, right? “Antisemite kicked off of tour, antisemitic supporting groups follow suit” fits zionist framing perfectly.

Three Four All supporting acts quit.

“Palestine comments” wtf is this cope framing? He dressed as a hook nosed Jew stereotype on stage. The only reason Ed is a coward is he didn’t cite him being a rabid dog of an antisemite as the reason he was kicked out.

Idk man the boomers were an especially awful generation.

Their parents called them “the me generation”, before the baby boom became a term, because they were so selfish.

Then turned around and raised gen-x through Gen Z and called them lazy …

The boomers were a product of their time and we got fucked by them hard.

When the “stopantisemitism” organisation wrote an article about macklemore pink posted it on insta and simply said “awful” or something. a week or so later she provided a more detailed stance which was kinda mixed. something like “everyone hating on me. I’m a jew. Violence is bad. hamas is bad.”

She made specific allegations that Macklemore brought out a costume designed to resemble a Jewish stereotype (black hat, beard, prominent nose) and in doing so implied that Jews had responsibility for Gaza. Was she lying or distorting things?

Is there more context that obviously identifies it as a Jewish caricature?

I’m pretty sure this guy tried to sell me a moped in Macedonia.

                –edit–

Here’s Macklemore’s response to the accusation:

He explained that he randomly chose the elements of the outfit so that he could disguise himself and move freely around during the secret show.

“I acknowledge how the costume could, within a context of stereotyping, be ascribed to a Jewish caricature,” he wrote.

“I am here to say that it was absolutely not my intention and unfortunately at the time I did not foresee the costume to be viewed in such regard.”

Dude he’s so fucking dumb. He should have just said the tour was no longer being planned. Now the assholes who own the arenas get nothing, and have to find a new show for the dates that were being negotiated. Less money and more work for then

Keep in mind, him making a public statement wouldn’t really mean anything. It’s not legally binding. But it would probably get the hungry old money in line

I imagine those people got contracts, and If one side gets offended and prevented you from playing, you are not breaching the contract they are, and you get to be a Hero, and people would love you, but He made His choice and He prefers to be on the side of someone literally on the epstein files.
