No rice. No watering down your coffee. If I catch you doing either, I’ll stab you.

There’s a Laotian restaurant right around the corner from me that serves really delicious food. The owner is an elderly lady who’s so amazingly unfriendly that it’s actually funny.

In the men’s restroom, there’s a sign hanging above the urinals that reads: “Flush, or else ✂️”

We have a Vietnamese restaurant with the same owner I guess. “You want German beer? No! Vietnamese! Coco rice for desert? No! You get pandan cake!”

The items might be out of stock, but she’s so brutal in her decisions I wouldn’t dare to ask.

The pandan cake is delicious though.

That really sounds like the same owner. I’m always grateful for whatever food she grants me, especially since it’s always excellent, and I wouldn’t dream of not flushing the toilet—that would undoubtedly lead to the consequences stated on the sign; that’s as certain as death and taxes.

I like that their “no food” drawing is inclusive, it has chopsticks and a spoon

Spoons are regulars with people who eat with chopsticks. Like, they know the concept of “soup”, can’t eat that with chopsticks.

I sent it to a colleague and she sent back why food doesn’t have fork. It took me a minute to find this post again to comment.

Not much of east Asia uses forks. They’re a mix of chopsticks and spoons.

I saw this on The Other Place earlier where the nurse was supposedly Chinese, and now it’s made me doubt the entire story

Saw it years ago - fairly sure it was said to have taken place in China back then too.

Totally possible that a Chinese nurse would work in Thailand on foreigners.

Technically possible, but weird that the exact same image would show up otherwise completely unattributed with two different parts of the story like that, don’t you think?

This exact thing happened to me in thailand in 2013. I got a really bad stomach bug and was having a hard time walking before I finally got to a pharmacy.

The pharmacist didn’t speak English but he gave me a bag of pills and a note:

    🌄 🌕 2x 💊+🍚

I was back to making questionable decisions in two days

Same for me in Malaysia in 2015, but my flight back was scheduled for the next day. I did not take it, I was miserable.

You can see the patient is not Usian because they use the 24h format and they understand it.
