Silver lining to high hardware prices, geopolitic conflict won’t target civilian infrastructure when there are far more efficient targets like data centres.

Data centres are prob insured, but they sure aren’t getting any more replacement RAMs & GPUs from the local mom & pops lithography fab.

      Rams & Gnus?

It’s weird lately I keep seeing people pluralize RAM as RAMs. Is memory already plural in this context? Would we expand this as Random Access Memories? We don’t usually ask “how many memories does your computer have?”

Though it occurs to me we do this with ROMs, but in that context it is referring to ROM cartridges, or more likely files from rips. You wouldn’t say “I have 16k of ROMs on my BIOS.” Weird.

I agree (I don’t think there is any doubt at all about that, but ty for your politeness, it is appreciated) but I found it funny (only) lately, ‘my rammies’ (as in sticks of RAM, like individual objects), cute, precious. Over time a living language tends to have it’s way with acronyms anyway.

That’s great news, on that front I’ve also heard that there are ongoing negotiations for Ukraines accession into the EU.

It would be nice if France and Poland would flex some military might and help the Ukrainians out.

Ironically, pre-LLM era photoshop may have already used AI (image-processing) techniques behind the scenes.

May have? Even something like rock fill is obviously ai processed.

And funny how that was hated at the time, but is now just a normal tool. Like what’s going on now.

Remember when Photoshop demoed that magic eraser thing that would just remove things from a picture if you drew a circle around them? That seemed amazing at the time, now it’s obvious.

If you’re talking about what I think you are then that actually didn’t use neural networks (see the part where they add ‘negative weight’ to an image area):

That was also the basis for content aware scale of course.
