I feel like I’m a really good judge of character; I can tell if I’m not going to get along with someone or how they will treat me in the future. When it comes to high profile celebrity figures, i can get a sense of their character through very minimal data. This is why I predict Andrew Tate (toxic manosphere influencer) will pivot into becoming an alien conspiracy influence. But I have no evidence for it, thus the prediction is baseless.

Anyone have any similar beliefs/predictions?

back in 2017-18 , called out russia was using propaganda bots to drump up articles to astroturf the subs, and look where it has turned into, leading into bannings every year, that got worst over time. the warnings were largely ignored at the time.

    Some other ones:

    • I think North Korea will be accepted back into the fold of the international community - this could occur through any of these 3 mechanisms: 1) “rehabilitated” to be more like other nations, 2) eventually proves its system to be successful, or 3) simply the US gives up on its shunning of the country. All evidence and past performance shows that it won’t, but i still expect it to happen some time before 2075.

7-9, i call 1-3 the Prequels. I think in a way retconning 7-9 is the most profitable thing disney can do with it, there have been a few silly rumours they might do it too.

They could also remake the prequels and get some real writers on them and make them good.

Looking at Disney’s MCU ouvre, it’s a blend of hits and misses, so I don’t fully trust the company to not mess it up.

DIsney ruined the MCU with streaming, they were just producing slop post-endgame. apparently they are being fickle with DOCTOR who as well form BBC.

I’m in favour of leaving the prequels as they are, but it wouldn’t upset me if they remade any of the movies. As long as it’s an actual remake and not minute cgi changes or dumping CGI assets into the OT films (they did this).

Like, Disney could have and probably should have just done animated versions of the original trilogy, seeing as they chose to rehash the general shell of the story and pass it off as a sequel trilogy. I would not have cared if they did that - i would have avoided watching just to save money but i think that would be the logical first step for disney, childrens’ animation producer, to do with Star Wars, beloved franchise, and it would have helped to draw in a new generation of fans.

If they’d even rehashed the story a bit, e.g “fixed the prequels,” added more female protags in the OT, made it more sparkly and disney-esque, then that’s fine. Loads of Sci-Fi franchises have had reboots like that, and fans are capable of seperating original from new wave interpretation (Stargate and I think Star Trek are some examples of this.)

I really doubt we’re the only sentient life but we’ll never meet any is my bet. The observable universe is mind bogglingly huge. The unobservable is so much bigger. So many stars, so many planets.

Regarding North Korea, it seems like it is a national decision instead of an international decision. There have been cases where trade was allowed to occur with North Korea and it was North Korea which chose to close the program.

Even now, North Korea could theoretically force a more open travel system with Russia and North Korea chooses not to. Hell, North Korea probably could get a peace treaty out of Trump and chooses not to.

AI has honestly changed a lot about my life/intended life plan. Especially when it was released, it basically rolled out as i graduated high school.

I actually started out in a creative/arts based degree but quit it early on, so i think to a lot of people it looked like i was scared of AI stealing my job. I wasn’t back then, but i now kind of am concerned that scummy employers will lay-off a lot of people and try to have AI do their work in that field.

Anyway not to say AI fits your description, as it doesn’t really, but it indicates to me that sense of tumultuous change. Likewise, covid. That changed everything too. I don’t think these things come in pairs but in waves, kike the chsnge of the 19th and 20th centuries.

To me, AI is most impactful in ways it was originally created for: combing through large data sets to make connections, even if that data set is a picture, or fifty of them. E.g., an ai was used to look at pictures taken with a microscope and it was able to pick out different structures/organisms without staining. Similar systems were also used to find discrete hints of far off galaxies than astronomers would struggle to detect without making their data quite noisy.

The big companies had nothing to do with these afaik, especially since the researchers that wrote the papers used machine learning in there methodology instead of the colloquial “AI”, which I will always see as a misnomer until such time an AI is generally accepted to be someone, which I don’t believe will happen anytime soon with our level of technology and failing biosphere.

Pretty sure I’m going to find myself in some kind of mass migration by highway, get identified at a checkpoint as politically unacceptable in some way, then get moved to a large empty sports stadium with about 1-2 hundred other people, then get marched out onto the field and shot. I saw it very vividly in a dream that did not fade after waking up.

I think humanity will achieve digital immortality and might achieve a form of physical immortality by uploading themselves into artificial bodies.

And I’ll 100% sign up for it if it becomes possible.

The digital immortality you want: living forever in a virtual paradise.

The digital immortality you get: you are recorded doing something stupid that ends any career or relationship potential and is never able to be removed from the internet.

In another aspect, what does uploading ones self look like and when is the upload taken? Do they kill the original body after taking the upload or is there a you living out their days stuck in the mortal husk while another you (possibly not the one you are) is off living it up in an immortal body or virtual paradise?

I imagine it to be not unlike a system snapshot of a computer, just of your brain and the data your mind contains, thus making every experience accessible like a computer file in additional to all of the recorded data that exists online.

As for a mortal body, if my second prediction is correct, you wouldn’t need it anymore. Perhaps those who upload could donate their bodies to those who choose not to. That would be nice.

Ahh so the idea would be that the upload wipes the original so there arent multiple copies kicking around.

Seems like making new people would be difficult unless you made everyone keep a bio body until they had reached mental maturity and made more humans …

Little did they know it’s was actually a peace and war switch

Once at a dinner party, one alien was showing the switch to another and they flipped it back and fourth a bunch of times and started WW1

Couple years later, another party and BAM WWII

I don’t want to think about it but probably. I, as a GenZ, see them as very similar to boomers but with a kind of restlessness they will apply to inappropriate contexts. Boomers for all their faults are good at only tapping into their blood pressure dysregulation to kill people or advocate for war or racism, GenZ is just in a transient state between chaotic or tranquilised, so i could see a GenZ world leader firing a nuke for fun or something. But hey.
