A screenshot of a post showing a red pickup truck with a mechanical arm structure attached to its bed, holding a magnet in front of a metal plate mounted on the front bumper, titled “Okay explain why this wouldn’t work”. Below, a comment from the official Volkswagen account reads “We sent this to the engineering department and they blocked us on teams.”

i never understand this meme, it does work, exactly as the laws of magnetism dictate, it’s why it doesn’t move.

It’s like showing a picture of a rock with a saddle and asking why doesn’t this work… well, if you mean why doesn’t this move?, you just need a steeper decline :)

Really? No one’s posted it yet? Y’all are spending too much time in the mainstreams if this doesn’t trigger your anti corpo reflex. ;p

The boom is actually a device which attaches the magnets to the ground. The front plate is also a powerful electromagnet which can adjust its own field to be attracted to and then repelled by the spiked, stationary magnets.

My tax preparer randomly started telling me about how he’s invested money in a guy that is developing a “reactionless space drive” that works basically like this drawing. I was fighting the eye-roll when he added that the guy solved all the problems he was having with the design by asking ChatGPT. I started to explain how ChatGPT works then thought better of it. Easier to just find a new tax preparer.

There was an actual NASA project that briefly claimed to have detected some miniscule accelerations driven only by EM waves. I think these claims were later lost to measurement error.

      See the wiki:

NASA Eagleworks reported small thrust under vacuum.[70] Tajmar et al. (2022): no thrust across wide frequency band; any anomalous signal below photon-thrust limit by at least two orders of magnitude.[21]: 31, 42–43

It’s the right idea. The trick is to also use an electromagnet. A few of them. Put them in a circle. Switch on one of them at a time so the magnet moves to the electro magnet. Then switch of the one electromagnet and switch on the next. Now you have a magnet spinning. Use that to mine the wheels.

Alternatively have a road full of electromagnetic in a linear fashion. That works too.

I love that apparently additional metal has to be added because the truck itself is made out of so much plastic and other nonsense that it wouldn’t work with a magnet on its own.

But how would you stop the car? If you lifted the magnet up, the car goes along with, and then you’d be going through the atmosphere.

I think it’s newtons first law. The force attracting the metal to the magnet is equal but opposite to the magnet on the metal.

Magnet would pull the car backwards and the metal forwards
