As an 80s kid I can confirm that seeing him with the TV laying on him like that was weird as hell, even back then. We had small 6 inch screen portable TVs that would have worked for the scene … something like the one Depp is using would just go on a table beside the bad.
Wait… Are we really old enough that we have to explain these things now???
Yea. I had to explain that they didn’t have LED screens back then to my daughter and that is why TVs were so big. It broke her mind to learn that the blue (and thus white) LED came way after the Red and Green.

Just told myself this morning as I was waking up “I have got to stop falling asleep with my heavyass laptop ontop of me. I’m gonna sprain my gall bladder or something at this point.”
Minus legs on the next day.
This kid most certainly did not get a good night’s sleep.
He did, but his children definitely never will.
A weighted blanket is a better option, but you do you.
But the weighted blanket won’t fry my testicles the way I like.
How else are you going to spawn the Incredible Hulk otherwise? Work in an secret and very unethical military research project? Proposterous.
Why are his pants unbuttoned though?
That’s Johnny Depp in Nightmare on Elm Street, and he’s actually wearing a crop top.

He was watching a Jazzercise tape.
Richard Simmons.
He has the wrong idea about Sadako?
Came here wondering the same thing.
What is this image from? Is there context to explain his pants being open?
It’s from the first nightmare on elm street movie, he’s trying to stay awake so Freddy doesn’t kill him.
A 60lb TV in a water-bed, no less!
Ok boomer
a nightmare on elm street, Johnny Depp us about to die in this scene
But he didn’t die, did he?
This scene got me so scared and I was sure Freddy was under my bed later that night and I went to my Mom’s room and barfed on her from fear.
Freddy pulls him into the bed and then he gets splattered off the ceiling
I don’t believe it, I have seen him on the other films after that.
that’s just a guy that looks like him
Ah, yes. That explains it.
I wouldn’t call this scene a “good night’s sleep”…
He achieved REM stage at least once…
REM as in “Razored, Exsanguinated, and Murdered?”
Well yeah, it wasn’t the end of the world as we know it at the time.
Jokes aside, I didn’t have a walkman for a while, so I was “sleeping” with a boombox under my blanket, with earbuds plugged in

I used to use one of these with big 70s earphones with a 15 foot curly cord.

Reminds me of the time I was working at Walmart and had to clean the milk fridge out; pulled up the panel at the bottom of the fridge where the drip trap is and there was a fully sealed, in-box, portable TV from the 90s when the store first opened under there.
They didn’t let me keep it. 😩

Your bad for letting them know about it.
Seems like every time I did that it pushed me down into a hole in the middle of the bed and I was shot back out as an unexplainable quantity of blood.
I know that reference!
This is my hole. It was made for me.
It also turned you into Johnny Depp.
Stop exaggerating. That TV weighs barely more than half that.
Seriously. Theres no way that television even just weighs barely half as much as people seem to say it almost doesnt. The only way is if you weigh 2 televisions, double it, halve it, double it again, and then divide it into fourths. Even then it wouldnt barely weigh nearly what most people think it almost weighs
The handle in top is a great indicator. 60lb would break that
Before weighted blankets, we had…
