I’ve been rewatching my favorites (Mr. Robot, Andor, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) and I’m curious: What is your favorite show of all time? What makes that your favorite?

      So… funny story. Before I ever watched frieren, I bought a T-shirt about that series in Akihabara. Then when we got home we watched the first season and I regretted not buying several amazing figures from the series while I was there.

      Firefly - I’m not into it, but my wife fucking loves it. She had a Firefly wedding, like all themed and stuff. Which I don’t understand but whatever.

          Honestly the one I’m streaming now looks like crap too. I had torrented a really high quality one a couple years ago, so probably on TPB?

      I was thinking that I didn’t have one, but Avatar is one of the one’s I rewatched the most, so it has to be up there. It’s probably between that and The Office.

      I liked breaking bad but I always felt like it was too dragged out and they could have told the same story over fewer seasons without losing anything. I felt like there was loads of filler episodes where nothing happened

        After Gus was killed it definitely wasn’t quite as good, and in particular, the last season felt superfluous.

        Walter’s new Nazi pals just weren’t as interesting as villains go.

      Watching Breaking Bad was an amazing experience that I would recommend everyone do once. However, I don’t think I can ever take that full ride again. It just has too many people being so horrible to themselves and each other.

    Community, followed by Fringe and then Justified.

    Community is my ideal sitcom: weird, experimental, hilarious, and emotional. It was my comfort show for a very long time. My ringtone comes from that show, Professor Professorson’s conspiracy theory ringtone. (Dun dun dunnnnnn)

    Fringe is my ideal sci-fi show: weird, far reaching, and is allowed to reach its end.

    Justified is my ideal cop show: funny and dark, with a great supporting cast.

      Top 5 for me too, but I’d argue it (and Person of Interest) had unfortunately rushed final seasons. Still, gloriously weird, top notch acting, class act writing with some standout moments of utter glory (white tulip, that dandelion poking out to “Only You”, my very favourite thing…). Hmm, shall bump it in my rewatch queue.

      TNG, Lower Decks, and DS9 are definitely comfort shows for me. Like a warm fuzzy blanket. I am surprised about how easy it is to rewatch Lower Decks.

    wow. did a ctrl-f and firefly did not come up. Normally I find the first person to say firefly and reply to it. guess im that guy today. anyway. yeah. im one of those firefly folks. firefly for tv and lotr for movies.

    Get a special shout-out for being one of the only mystery box shows I’ve ever seen that sticks the landing.

      Atlanta is so good. There’s a Canadian show called Late Bloomer that for some reason gives me similar vibes. It’s not really similar other than it being a darkish comedy about a troubled artist, but just something about the writing hits the same way.

      Since all of these are also my favourites, you may want to try Fleabag for a comedy, and the Wire, Fargo, True Detective and Severance for drama. Fargo might be my favourite series in general, Fargo and the Simpsons, if I could pick two.

        I agree with almost all those choices but I never finished any of those series so didn’t put them on.

        Severance is the only one on there I disagree with. They may stick the landing, but imho I highly suspect they’ve fully jumped the shark and are in the “oh fuck, we didn’t actually plan for it to go on this long” part of a mystery box. I suspect it will just waste time for like another 2-3 seasons then suddenly end while not answering half the questions from the early seasons … like virtually all of mystery boxes that aren’t Dark do.
