Did they vote for him?
“Just the worst nightmare we could ever imagine. We trust in God that he will comfort us and be with our family,”
I guarantee it.
100% voted for him.
the 10,000,000 dollar question
Well they did call for people to vote in this next election… so I think they probably didn’t. Or at least they aren’t going to vote his way coming up.
I could 100% see MAGA being upset that their child was killed and then forgetting and voting for Trump in 6 months again.
Is the Jeffrey Epstein Memorial War starting to get through to the magats?
It is not “uncalled for”. It was deliberate called for to distract from the presidents failures and crimes.
Pedophilia and human trafficking.
Yeah. But I mean dying pointlessly is kinda what he signed up for. Civilian deaths are far more tragic.
YOU 👏 SIGNED 👏 UP 👏
As a European, all these American news read like you‘re very close to a civil war over there
When I’m at an airport bar, any and all interactions with chuds from red states definitely feels like it. They’ve been conditioned to hate blue cities/ states. A simple where you flying to/ from turns into a whole rant about San Francisco and how it used to be great, but it’s been ruined by wokeness or whatever 9 times out of 10. It’s fucking unbearable. I try not to talk to those chodes because they literally can’t function without repeating some bullshit they heard on Fox News. They straight up live in an alternate reality.
Buy a gun
But don’t bring it to the airport…
We’re being actively goaded in that direction by bad-faith actors all over social media, including here. Those of us with brains are keeping our powder dry since it’s obvious that these trolls can’t speak for all the steps that sit between conflict and resolution. Said trolls also don’t understand that the majority of gun owners are trained and know better. It’s not like you can buy bullets at 7-11, and having so many firearms around doesn’t automatically make this a volatile situation, hence the constant pushing you see online.
What I can say is that the political divides you’re seeing online are showing up in the real world, where people aren’t able to overcome propaganda and programming. In my experience, people generally stay off the topic of politics in public because they want to have a good day. Occasionally you spot someone wearing trump stuff, but I take that in stride along with people wearing offensive t-shirts and the like: it’s just trolling, plain and simple.
Overall, it’s not great.
I thought most people buy bullets at Walmart but hey
I believe they stopped selling ammo recently.
I am sick of foreigners prodding us to revolt, simply for their sick entertainment, as if a Civil War in America wouldn’t make life miserable in every other country in the world. We still a have the Constitution and a few legal strategies left, including the Midterms, and the 2028 Presidential Election.
What happens in the future depends primarily on the outcomes of those elections, and if MAGA defies the results of those elections, then we’ll start to moving toward revolt.
But right now, it is far too early. We still have legal, Constitutional steps to take first.
I don’t know. I think the Constitution only matters if Trump and mega don’t control all three branches of the government.
After all, weren’t the search and seizure is everywhere. Disregarding habeas corpus. Disobeying court orders to release detainees. Bullying allies and doing his best to undermine NATO.
Now he wants the federal government to have control over National elections, and it seems pretty clear that if the Republicans look like they’re going to lose control of the house or senate, elections will be suspended completely.
Every time Trump crosses a red line, people, Democrats especially, just draw a new red line.
He can’t suspend elections, they are managed by the states. He has no say over it. And with over 400 Congressional races, he can’t rig that many local elections. So they are coming up with pre-, during, and post-election cheating strategies.
Before the election, they are trying to get their hands on the state voting infrastructure, for some reason. They raided the Georgia election offices, but I’m not sure what they can accomplish with it. They have some sort of plan, because they are also trying to get their hands on the same materials from other states as well. They may have a plan, but they are virtuosically incompetent, so there is about a 70% chance that it will fail miserably.
Another pre-election strategy is to purge the voter rolls on advance. This was first used by Jeb Bush before the 2000 election, and was very effective in suppressing Democratic votes, so it has become SOP for the GOP ever since. All voters, but especially those in Red states, should know when their registration period ends, and make sure they are still registered to vote before the deadline. They are also trying to ban mail in ballots, which is really stupid, since mail-ins tend to favor the Right.
Also closing polling places in busy areas, while having lots of polling places in rural areas, and restricting early voting.
For the During Election strategies, we’ve been hearing of plans to send ICE to the polls, where they have no jurisdiction or duties (there won’t be any illegals at the polls, they can’t vote), to intimidate people.
Post-election, we can expect them to try to raid certain state election offices before the count is finished, in order to confiscate the voting materials, and do their OWN vote count. They can’t be allowed to do that under ANY circumstances. Governors have to be prepared to send the National Guard, and the State Patrol to guard their Election Offices, and if any MAGAs show up to steal the ballots, and they DON’T have a signed warrant…SHOOT THEM, like they should have done to the DOGE Goons when they tries to get past the lobbies in those Federal agencies. If they claim there is a “DoJ Policy” that legally allows it, that’s a lie, and not how the law works, so if they try to push beyond that without a warrant, they are trespassing on State property, it should be considered terrorism, and they should be dealt with decisively.

This syndicated comic strip ran in a bunch of main line newspapers yesterday. You have to understand it’s pretty wild for these big, mainstream comic strips to dip into politics if that’s not what they usually do. When Doonesbury went “too far”, he got moved to the opinion page in a bunch of papers.
I’ve seen some of Doonesbury‘s comics on the Internet. They, just like this comic strip, feel less like satire and more like a hyperbole. In Austria, we ususally overexaggerate everything. Like we have a satirical book about a former major of Vienna, called “get me the sparkling wine”

Let it be an example to you. Keep the fucking hard right and left wing idiots out of political leadership. I always voted for the SPD, CDU or Greens, the AfD and Linke can f-themselves and would destroy Germany like MAGA is doing to the USA. Shame the Pirate Party (Piratenpartei) failed, they were on to something.
As an American, I would say a year ago, the chances of civil war were like 0.0001%. Today I would rate it over 10%, if not more.
I don’t want to be 😔
Oh please let them finish what was left to fester
I loved the idea of Canada joining our glorious EU as well. Imagine working there for a bit and laughing at the border at yanks that get sent back or something… Cathartic. Plus Canadian bud.
Let Texas succeed. Something.
America helped save you guys from Hitler. How about returning the favor?
And by that you mean America allowed it’s companies to secretly aid Hitler until Japan touched Americas boats and Hitler declared war on America?

That’s fine, if Rheinmetall wants to raise their stock price, they can come save the American public all they want.
Trump doesn’t give a fuck about about anybody but Trump.
MAGA’s attitude, “Life is Cheap.” If any of the family members and soldiers guzzled down the Orange Kool-Aid, mixed with Russian vodka, zero sympathy.
Do they really think their son is going to heaven? What was he killing people there for? Was this his way to make a living and put food on the table?
He died mass murdering people 8000 miles away from an airplane to help a genocidal aparthied expand their settler-colonial hegemony, and help his pedofile boss cover their crimes and get richer from death and destruction of poor people.
He was not defending an invasion or any threat, and dont give me that he was freeing people from a dictatorship when his US military is what enables and supports all the dictatorships in the in the gulf reigon and middleeast including unlimited support for a genocidal aparthied supremacist ethnostate. In fact, the only dictatorship his military does not help in the middleeast is one his country improvished with sanctions for decades and whom he was mass slaughtering their people when he died.
That drone hovering over your house is definitely NOT the Raytheon Good Thought Adjuster 3000.
But isn’t that why he joined the military?
Killbomb girl schools or be killed? FAFO.Pay for rent, an education, room and board. Many people see the military as a way to increase their opportunities in life.
I’d guess it’s only a few (loud) psychos who want to be deployed to a warzone
“As long as I am not the one bombing girl schools, only helping others do it, it’s okay”.
“I needed to feed my family so I agreed to join an organisation that murders innocents, which makes it okay”.
“They are only following orders, so that’s okay.”
Fuck that shit.
I admire your idealism, but question your realism.
Have you never experienced soul crushing poverty?
Lots of people experience crushing poverty without turning into murderers.
Who’d they vote for?
An unprovoked war. Basically a war crime.
Kinda looks like Trump is rocking a crazy ponytail in that picture am i crazy?
This is what I came here to comment
I that’s Pam Bondi behind him.
She is so far up his ass, surprised that’s not her hair coming through
Simmons’ cousin, Stephan Douglas, told NBC4 in Simmons’ native Ohio. “We believe this could have been prevented. It’s a sad day.”
Nah bro, every
soldier’s death could have been easily prevented by simply not signing up to join the baby-killing machineI know a lot of people who have served here. They didn’t believe that they had many other options.
Things are bad in America, and they have been for most of the 2000’s. People outside the country don’t understand this fully sometimes.
“Things are bad in Russia, and they have been for most of the 2000’s. People outside the country don’t understand this fully sometimes.”
Yea…… I feel pity for the destitute Russia meat wave that was force conscripted, or joined to feed a starving family. It’s almost like we’ve designed our societies this way and the people are the victims??
It’s almost like people can be both victims and victimizers 🤪
It’s also like there’s a million non combat jobs in the us military. Some of them even deliver food to people and provide logistic support for non military entities. So much nuance to go around.

It’s like I can hate Russia and its leadership with all my heart; and still understand a boot on the ground is separate from the person ordering him around.
I can hate hamas and still feel bad for the child that was indoctrinated. It’s a crazy concept!
We’ve seen how yous frame everyone you don’t like as terrorists and all of their family, relatives, neighbors, neighborhood, city, country are fair game but sure “people outside this country don’t understand this”.
US has been shit throughout history if you ever read a history book.
Serving the military is a choice and the consequences are a part of the contract.

I’m
. I understand completely how bad it is here. Not an excuse.
If given a choice between “join the military or X”, you pick X unless it’s more unethical than joining the military. Even if it was “join the military or else you literally die”, you need to pick “literally die”, and then that’s just how your story ends, tough noogies, but at least you didn’t work for the baby killing machine.

Damn I showed up to late for all the unhinged comments
People don’t understand how the military is the best social ladder in America and how desperate people are to climb it. I worked at Walmart before the military. After the military my first job was making 6 figures. I went from just over poverty, to in something like the top ~15% of earners.

The American economy has been jury-rigged for decades to pipeline disadvantaged youth into the military, and said youth are very close to thve bottom of the list of people responsible for that dynamic.
Completely and utterly aware of that dynamic, but what parts of “no excuse” and “baby-killing machine” are so difficult for
people to understand? We all know that there are some things you “just don’t do” because they are monstrous to do! Joining the
military needs to be one of them!said youth are very close to the bottom of the list of people responsible for that dynamic.
Right but that doesn’t make them not responsible at all for their individual choices, individual actions, or for their part in the baby-killing machine. Obviously the capitalists are the ones most responsible by several orders of magnitude, but that does not mean that working people or poorer people who put their bodies on the line to work for the capitalists’ baby-killing machine are completely innocent. Like you do not lose your moral agency once you fall below the poverty line.
Like I’m asking for the absolute bare minimum of resisting temptation and liberals in this thread are like “no, soldiers are like innocent little baby lambs who have been shepherded into the military and have no moral agency” and like, fuck right off to hell with that take. Troops are people with the same ability to make moral decisions as any other people, and ostensibly they’re tough people, so they should be able to process this extremely simple if distressing reality that their “”“service”“” was evil and that they have to live with the consequences of their own mistake.
I am probably not as harsh talking as you, but I find this blanket forgiveness for our boys in camo kinda worrying too. One day all Lemmy angers at ICE recruits in tacticool gear shooting and kidnapping people, the second day we clap to DEATH DEATH TO IDF, and on the third day we are supposed to mourn an american war pilot who died doing missions in a foreign country on behalf of Trump and Netanyahu.
A career soldier, not a draftee, who could have chosen not to join the military or, when faced with inevitable active participation - get (dishonorably) discharged, just went with it. Dude, there are a corpus of laws about death and funerals on your job, you thought you would sit it out, or worse, you wanted to outsource your own personal misery to the lands you can’t even point on the map? Or, say, you didn’t choose it but just went with the flow your whole life? What if your best pals could’ve invited you to Abu Ghraib - could you say no? Could you choose anything for yourself? Are you a fucking person at all?
There is a rehabilitation arc to anyone, even to the worst of the worst if they choose to quit doing bad things and/or work at undoing damage they dealt. Fate wasn’t so fair to this guy as he was caught ready to airbomb iranians, without a second chance, what a bummer. If it wasn’t for that, he could’ve got 6 figures salary and gone through this pain with a personal therapist, reflecting on what he has done and finding his peace at last. No more screaming iranians schoolgirls on fire at night, only quality sleep. Thanks to the sponsor of this podcast, MyPillow.

Oof, too based for .world I see 😆
It’s why I left that [censored by .world] instance and the [censored by .world] mods.
Also “We believe this could have been prevented. It’s a sad day” is pretty weak “raging”. This still sounds sycophantic
It’s a news article so that’s to be expected.
And what company have you signed up to work for that is so pure?
No Western company has no blood on their hands of course, and for this reason (and so many others) they should all be relegated to the dustbin of history like our entire culture, including the company I personally work for.
Frankly, I am 1000% willing to face a revolutionary firing squad for my limited part in the
Empire if that’s what justice looks like for the people victimized by our Empire. At least I would die happy knowing that justice was served and the people rose up.But to suggest that there is no daylight between almost any other job within the Empire versus working in the military… silliness.
