This would be a good plan if we were dealing with a normal politician. Sadly, 200 million drooling idiots gave trump essentially unlimited power and he would 1000% invade in retaliation

      They’re not. It’s just some shitpost hot-take.

If you want a country to shut down a key commerce artery in order to stick it to the Americans, you need their leadership to have some fucking دلیرترین

I don’t think we’re going to see that out of a country whose residents are mostly known for their habit of apologizing.

Cool if you’re not familiar with the status of the current US Canada trade dispute since its not relevant for most of the world but…

Aside from China (which has much more leverage), Canada is the only country to apply significant retaliatory / counter tariffs on the US and they’re doing this despite being an historical ally of the US. Most other allies rolled over immediately.

Canada has already demonstrated outsized resilience for its stature against US economic aggression.

Closing a waterway that acts as a major trade route is considered an act of war. Makes sense for a country in Iran’s position where options are limited and their existance has been threatened by Western elites / the Epstein class repeatedly. Makes absolutely no sense in this dispute.

The royal we, referring to our government. We aren’t necessarily taking the fall for it, but unless we restructure our government and economy, we’ll be the ones that feel the effects of their genocidal reign.

As a nation blah blah blah, agreed.

As a person with multiple different lineages of subjugated minorities running through my veins, I am tired of having to hurt and having mine hurt in the hierarchy games of “The White Man”, the colonizer, the imperialist.

This will not teach or create compassion, for all that it may be geopolitically necessary for a better world.

Every single time a force has risen to poke that bear, it has always ended short of finishing the job, giving rise not to compassion but to a simple dormancy of evil for a time, and minorities splattered as collateral.

Technically, it probably includes some overlap, so not necessarily incorrect. If that 77% includes most of the 33% (because, presumably, most of the fash supporters don’t want to bash the fash) then that leaves a remaining ~23% who are willing to bash some fash.

It’s not that Canada has no options to escalate the trade war, it’s that they recognize the obvious truth that escalation hurts both countries

Counterpoint, escalating the petty stuff would be beneficial.

IMO Canada should launch an investigation into the Epstein files and bring it up after stating the short and obvious things about the trade dispute.

You don’t play an abuser’s game.

Trump is a rapist, he thinks like one.

Force him to play a different game.

… while also simultaneously gathering allies, and bunkering down.

Trump and MAGA and ICE are going to steal the elections.

Not sure if you missed it, but the Supreme Court essentially just mandated that the Federal Government must be provided with a full list of every registered voter any mailed ballot is to be sent to, 60 days prior to the election.

They then get to review those lists, and throw out whoever the fuck they want.

That in and of itself, in any other time, would be a Constitutional Crisis… but the whole strategy is ‘flood the zone’, baffle us all with so much bullshit we literally cannot even comprehend it all.

They’ll literally just declare everyone who publically disagrees with their election proceedings to be terrorists, more or less straight out of the Nazi playbook.

… Canada does not have time on its side.

Nor do Americans, to be frank, but that’s not the subject of this thread.

I would bet the ambassdor bridge’s yearly toll value that Canada won’t do jack shit in terms of actually shanking the US outside of tit for tat tariffs because the EU also continued to suck Trump’s metaphorical trombone despite pulling the exact same scam last year.

They could shutdown land trade just as easily in an attempt to force the US to comply, but they won’t.

Based on what I saw today in terms of people leaving the local Walmart, I’m gonna say the new name for this Strait better have something to do with toilet paper and paper towels. Every single cart seemed like it had giant packages of one, the other, or both.

Inb4 trump says we don’t need it and that we’ll build our own canal on our side, called the america canal funded by the tariffs.

Trump draws a route on the map in sharpie.

The trump boys buy a lot of land around buffalo then sell it at its peek 2 weeks later before Trump loses interest and moves on to the next thing.

The one going into indiana is maumee, ?(Little River?), Wabash to ohio river to Mississippi. Maumee is dammed a few times, so not navigable… Little River is basically a creek… Muamee has ports but is dammed not far in.

The other going down Ohio is maumee, auglaize,???, great Miami… No idea how that was all navigable…

Cleveland is cuyoga and seems the most reasonable and still today has tons of lift bridges for navigating.

Some of those get fairly wide, but we’re talking old small ships I have to imagine… Most of those get pretty damn low regularly… Granted clime change and damming have a big effect.

The Boundary Waters Treaty of 1909 means Canada can’t close the canal and sadly the treaty also states that canadian and american ships can not be treated differently when it comes to transit-taxes.

Those treaties make absolutely no mention of ship transit between Lake Erie and Lake “America”. Sure they can’t transit tax american ships between Erie and Ontario. But they sure as shit can tax between Erie and “America”.
