Having recently seen the first trilogy among Nolan’s works, I wonder what opinions you hold about the movies in general. Seeing that I’m quite late to the party, I expect some strong and mature takes in the comments, but you are still free to voice any opinion you may have.

I want to know what voice Hardy gave Bane before the one we heard because I heard he was asked to change it because it sucked. I gotta hear how bad it was before the one they approved because I still wanna know why he gave him that voice.
I saw them long ago. I believe I liked them - tho it gave Batman a different tone.
It is very interesting how Batman is one of those characters that change tones swinging any direction.
I grew up seeing episodes from the og Batman series, then the animated ones (even Batman Beyond) - and I still like Batman forever. These were all different in tones.The ‘new’ ones are more modern action movie style, in my recall it was a good popcorn flick. It reminds me of the ‘new’ Star Trek movies - as is not Star Trek but a good movie.

I think the third one is crap. Oh no, a masked supervillain has taken under the stock market.
Unfortunately, we must allow everything he does to actually go through. There’s nothing we can do to stop it 🙄
Also: Batman climbs out of a hole. So exciting.
I’m always a sucker for scenes that show people are better than people give them credit for. The scene in Spiderman 2 when the subway car passengers refuse to give up a fainted Peter to Doc Ock is a good example; another is in The Dark Knight, when Joker tries to get two ferries to detonate the other one’s bombs, and neither does.
Heath Ledger’s Joker is awesome. Other than that I think they’re over-hyped.
I don’t really like them. To me their biggest flaw is gotham. Gotham is like it’s own character and in his trilogy it’s just chicago.
Too serious, too dark (literally hard to see, which is bad in a movie). So I didn’t bother with more than the first.
I’m not a specific superhero movie fan, but have seen all of the marvel ones and like some of the DC ones too, like the latest superman. Since it’s a silly and unrealistic thing to begin with, I like superhero movie approaches that don’t take themselves fully seriously.
Absolutely loved the Arkham Asylum game!

I prefer the Marvel-type superhero movies where they don’t take everything so seriously and pretend that the premise isn’t ridiculous. I guess I just wonder “why so serious”?
Batman isn’t an interesting character. His flamboyant rouges gallery is essential and I think a gritty/ realistic Batman-villain undercuts that.
First movie was OK, It laid a good foundation.
The second one was great.
The third one was absolutely terrible.
It’s pretty impressive how good the second one is considering what it’s between.
I have an unpopular opinion in that I did not like Batman Begins. The direction is great. There’s a great vibe to it all. The concept is there. But imo, the really high quality of Nolan’s visual directing does so much work distracting people from how lacking the movie is in actual substance.
I don’t know how he hit such gold with the second. It wasn’t just the great performance from Ledger: the overall writing and story are just way, way better than the other two. Good for him, though.

Kind of describes most of Nolan’s movies really. As a technical director, he’s almost unparalleled, but his movies have often struggled to find a meaningful emotional core. They’re all polish, but often lacking in substance. Tenet was especially bad for this. An absolute masterpiece of directorial craftsmanship, but almost entirely devoid of basic elements like characters.
He’s made some absolute gems - The Dark Knight still holds up, Memento deserves its reputation, and The Prestige is a masterpiece - but I find that for the most part he seems more interested in technical flexes than in the actual story he’s telling. I’ve enjoyed every single one of his movies, don’t get me wrong, but they don’t stick with me the way that something like Prisoners or Only God Forgives does.
I thought all of them were excellent, though admittedly I only saw Rises the one time in the theatre. The Dark Knight stands out above the other two, though.
I’m not a Batman or comic fan, which could explain my taste. In fact, a group of friends and I tried watching the 1989 one with no nostalgia and we all agreed to turn it off halfway through.
tim burton’s second batman was way better than the first, worth trying. danny devito nailed it as the penguin, christopher walken was an amazing corpo ceo slimeball, and michelle pfeiffer still the best catwoman
the rest of the pre-nolan movies were all steamy diarrhea. one of them actually wrecked chris o’donnell’s career

What was off? Michael Keaton is one of those actors that I think can hold an audience even with weak material, and I didn’t think that was weak material at all. And that’s before we even get into Jack Nicholson’s Joker. Was it bad? Or did it just feel boring or something?
i should have clarified: jack nicholson batman wasn’t steamy diarrhea. it was good, though dated by this point, but batman returns was much better imo
I don’t mind the movies are except the first one because I have very low tolerance for shaky cam fight scenes and that movie is nasty with 'em.
I like Nolan for sci-fi/fantasy, but I didn’t care for his Batman movies. Watched every one, they bored me. I liked the first two with Michael Keaton and the one with Val Kilmer, though I was pretty young when they came out and they left an impression. Rose coloured glasses and all that. I don’t really watch them now but I remember them being good.
DC stuff in general just bores me, though I did like last year’s Superman. My problem with Superman is that only a fake green rock from a planet that does not exist (so far as we know) is his one weakness, and the film opens with him having gotten his ass kicked. Didn’t love it but thought it was decent. I thought I liked Batman more, but those are boring to me, too.
