Why would anyone ruin Guinness like that? That’s a crime against humanity!
Ordering that is the second fastest way to get beat up in an Irish pub, after ordering an Irish Car Bomb.
For some reason, I’d have expected the Guinness to be denser than the Monster
I think it has to do with the dissolved gas… Guinness has nitrogen vs carbon dioxide, which is denser
The can says this is monster nitro; which is nitrogenated like the guiness, and not carbonated.
I believe this is partially true. Guinness has a mix of dissolved nitrogen and carbon dioxide, called G-Mix (some info here and here). Apparently this is typically in a ratio of 75% nitrogen to 25% carbon dioxide, although if you mix your own you can determine the ratio based on your draft setup and the desired outcome. Having the CO2 in there is also is why it tastes less flat than other nitrogenated beers, I think.
I had the same thought initially. Then remembered how alcohol had a low molecular density
The Guinness has a bunch of tiny, light nitrogen bubbles that allow it to sit on top of CO2 bubbles.
That’s a reasonable assumption, but this is also how a black and tan (or “half and half,” in Ireland) is made: layer Guinness or a different stout beer on top of a pale one.
A long time ago an Irish singer I knew explained to me that a black & tan had to be an Irish stout (black) over an English pale ale (tan - we used Bass then). Given the history of the name, it made sense. Over the years, it became clear that this was his head cannon, but since I’m a bit of a history nerd who like dark beers I’m doggedly sticking to it!
on another note: WTF happened to Bass? used to be everywhere.
Ooh ok I’ve never seen that before. I don’t really drink much beer lol.
Also try what’s called a Snake Bite, which is Guinnes layered on top of a cider. The sweetness from the cider cuts the bitterness of the Guinness.

Still pissed that Pepsi stopped making the Nitro Pepsies and put an end to the manufacturery of my famous Smooth Penness
-
1 part Nitro Pepsi
-
1 part Guiness Draught
Surprisingly good. The cola paired well with the stout beer and the sugar helped otherwise sweeten it up for drinking.
Add a shot of dark rum (I chose Bacardi Black) to make it a Big Black Peness or swap out the basic Nitro for a Nitro Vanilla Pepsi for a Big White Peness
Sorry, a smooth what now?
Just how I like them 😏
That’s a pennes.gif
Hehe… You said “famous”.
