As much as I LOL’d and agree with the sentiment, this is almost entirely about politics, not infrastructure – the only tenuous connection is that the political shithead happens to own a car company. As such, please try to resist the temptation to post more stuff like this here.

It’s also a shitty, unreliable, dangerous vehicle that allows them to be on the road because Elon is the richest dipshit on earth right now.

He’s pushed past regulations and forced his shitty vehicles to be on roads all across the world, including Europe, which doesn’t have the road infrastructure to handle things like the cybertruck. It’s bypassing regulation after regulation to show up on the road as a massive eyesore.

The Cybertruck is the culmination of everything fuckcars is about imo.

Thank you for being the voice of moderation! I bought a Model 3 in 2018, and the car itself has been great. Considering that it’s now paid off, and that it’s not okay to trash a perfectly usable resource, it would be irresponsible to replace it just to make a political statement. That said, I do have this same bumper sticker on my car 😅

Elon Musk is not a “political shithead” he is a primary reason why we don’t have better forms of transportation, and it’s worth pointing it out every single time. Also, aren’t virtually all of the infrastructure issues that exist that make cars such a prevalent force in our society almost entirely predicated on politics? Was Robert Moses not motivated by his own politics? But was it not his policies that essentially birthed the modern hostility to humans that urban areas have?

Politics is the way we make decisions that affect more than three people.

Anything that affects society is politics. Even choosing to not do something is politics.

Yeah, the whole hyper loop scam [1] he invented was to kill high speed rail in California. Fuck him.

[1] just see it in Las Vegas all out is a tunnel for cars that you pray there’s no accident because of fire starts you are stuck and can’t escape.

Elon Musk is why America doesn’t have 5 minute cities and rail transport? He’s only been politically active for a handful of years dude

Before he was “politically active” he was a billionaire making his money off of selling cars. One of the way he achieved that was by buying up contracts for high-speed rail projects and then not building them, or turning them into an entirely different car-centric thing (like his tunnel in vegas). Elon Musk didn’t SUDDENLY become a piece of shit when Trump was elected, he took advantage of that fact to be a bigger piece of shit.

Elon Musk is why America doesn’t have 5 minute cities and rail transport?

So Yeah. He is. Or at least one of them.

Elon musk himself is responsible for so much car centric bullshit. he has his own tunnels, his own chargers, he does everything he can to stop any anti-car development, and he has the most dangerous cars out there. this is only one of them by the way, the one that has sharp hard metal corners that are meant to slice pedestrians in half, but his other cars spontaneously combust.

Elon fired his publicist in 2018. He’d been a known asshat to anyone online for a while by the time the cyber truck was unveiled.

Never mind the fact that the company as a whole was extremely anti consumer the entire time.

Looking it up to be sure: The Tham Luang cave rescue happened in mid-2018, but the CyberTruck concept was unveiled in late 2019. So Leon had already outed himself as a full-tilt narcissistic lunatic more than a year before it was even announced.

To be fair, which I dont think we need to be, just having a narcissistic lunatic at the helm doesnt really make Tesla worse than any other auto manufacturer from an ethics point of view. If you are forced to buy a car, I dont think there is a morally spotless company to purchase from. No ethical consumption under capitalism and whatnot.

I would argue that elons assaults on democracy and other craziness over the past few years has pushed Tesla into a category of “worse than all other manufacturers”, but maybe not in 2019?

People just didnt care, in the classic self centered way, until it started to personally affect them. . and the biggest way it affects them now is riding around in his terrible fuckin vehicles, which creates an association with right wing assholery that they didnt want to have public.

That cybertruck reminds me of that Simpson’s episode where Homer designed and built a vehicle at his brother’s car company.
