This is probably the one time I’d pay for premium skins of Steve and Robin from Stranger Things.

I already interact with the public enough, not to mention have read enough of the Acts of Gord, to never want to run such an operation in real life.

I’ll bet you punching highly deserving abusive customers square in the face doesn’t get you fired as much in VR as it does in reality.

Tapper on the C-64 was my first introduction to a game based on retail work. Basically an arcade paced bartending that got quickly out of hand. Fun, but also felt too real sometimes. A modern, more realistic game might be a bit too much.

I used to work at a Blockbuster, I’m not sure I’d want to relive those days.

My favorite was when customers would come in with the cards we mailed out letting them know they were in collections for a late return. something like $4.25 (yes we’d send people to collections for the cost of a rental) and they’d always have the same complaint “I’M TRYING TO BUY A HOUSE AND THIS IS DESTROYING MY CREDIT, REMOVE IT!” which I always did cause man…it was $4.25.

I’m sure they did nothing wrong with that house once they bought it…

OP you should have doubled the fine

the excuse was, according to them, that having the late fee sent to collections would destroy their credit thus preventing them from getting a loan.

More like, “well for just $4.25, plus my convenience fee of $100, we can resolve this problem”

I love being assholes to assholes, so the chub is just a side benefit.

Yeah, but then you give them something to complain about afterwards. Pissing them off by being kind is sooooo much more rewarding. You haven’t experienced pettiness until you’ve gotten a customer to a boiling rage by being nothing but saccharine and professional to a pissed off customer looking for a fight.

I used to work retail cell phone sales for a now defunct reseller, and we’d frequently get people in who got pissed off when they found out we couldn’t do a lot of carrier functions, and boy was it fun winding people up by being kind, courteous and professional.

I wasn’t as bad as the South Park ISP dudes, but same vibe lol

For bitching about $4 that they should have paid weeks/months ago, bothering staff like that is going to be an easy way out. Using a bullshit excuse for pity.

If you can’t afford $4, what house are you buying? Exactly. They just expect to be treated ‘different’, because ‘they’ are ‘better’.

Hot take - If you can’t pay for a damn video tape rental you can’t be trusted to pay your house loan.

Yeah sorry I agree with you. Entire point of the credit system is to let people like mortgage lenders know how trustworthy you are. All you really need for a good score is to simply pay things off on time. If you ignore the small things, how will you treat the big things?

I wish they’d make a simulator where you have to get your family to the farmland. Like, hunt for food, ford rivers, drown the oxen, lose half your kids to rattlesnake bites and dysentery…

I think the Xennial craze of homesteading is a direct result of this game. This and Little House on the Prairie prepared us to handle crop failures, coyotes in the hen house, and having to care for someone in opioid withdrawal. Haven’t lost any oxen irl though.

Off topic somewhat, the place I work I managed to stumble upon a CRT TV with a built in VHS play which was hiding in a corner of a room nobody ever goes in, then in a completely separate part of the large site, a huge amount of old marketing VHS tapes. I got it working and was watching some old non-released TV ads from 80’s and 90’s. Today was a good day.
