I’ve always questioned the scene in "men behind the sun (also called black sun: 713) with the hypobaric chamber (iykyk). But thankfully just looked it up and it isn’t real footage.

But I would not want to go like that.

Amazing show, definitely recommend. Obviously some artistic liberty is taken because they have to make a show, but it’s the most “realistic” of any sci-fi series I’ve seen in terms of spaceships and life on them.

first ep. it’s quite clear that the air is continuously rushing out and not just one big blast then gone, they’re holding their breath, people aren’t being sucked into the hole, and just placing the binder over the hole noticeably restricts airflow before they apply sealant

Atmospheric pressure is about 14.5 psi, but a US quarter is only about 0.72 square inches in area. As a result it’s 10.5 lbf in total. I think that should probably be fine? Like, I can’t pretend to be an expert here, but frankly I think my arsehole is made of sterner stuff than that

I do wonder, though, if it’d create a steady airflow through your whole digestive system if you just left your mouth open. I bet that’d feel confusing

      From 2018:

Back in August, the crew of the International Space Station (ISS) was surprised to learn that a leak was responsible for a slight loss in air pressure aboard the station. After investigating, they learned that the cause was a small hole in the Russian Soyuz spacecraft that had docked with the ISS. While the hole was promptly sealed, the cause of it has remained a mystery ever since.

Yes, but your pucker is still directly exposed to space. It’ll feel like you’re sitting on melted rebarb until it quickly feels like nothing because everything in and around your anus is dead.

Not really tbh. It would be more like if you stuck a vacuum up your butt. You probably would come away without any serious injuries.

The difference between in the spaceship and outside is only 1atm, which isn’t all that much pressure.
