Well, what if someone took an old photo and used AI to add today’s newspaper in at the bottom of the frame? When you zoom in on the newspaper headline, it looks like gibberish.
Could it be compression artifacts? Maybe. But even then, the shape of the letters looks very odd. Doesn’t even look like English.
I tell you, the way things are nowadays, I wouldn’t bet against it being a fake.
Look at the blurry area all around the end of the index(?) finger, like a sloppy photoshop edit inserting the newspaper. The picture could have been taken at any time; he’s had several health events with hospital visits. On a more conspiracy-minded note, he may have pre-posed a bunch of photos for various situations.
Maybe McConnell wouldn’t have done that, but they’ve probably made all kinds of photos of trump in lots of different scenarios to be used if needed. Authoritarian governments do that kind of thing. Look at Iran pretending the new Ayatollah is alive and well, even though he’s never been seen since the initial attack, not even to attend his father’s funeral.
Seriously, I can of course have no idea what’s going on, but it’s fun/interesting to speculate. They’ve done so many dystopian things and lied so much and so blatantly, these ideas are actually pretty plausible.
Just going to add for conspiracy enthusiasts that the paper in the photo is from the Washington Post. A paper owned by Republican devotee billionaire with their own AI and an army of developers with ample digital media experience, Mark Zuckerberg. Even if Zuckerberg was not directly involved in creating a deep fake, it’s not unreasonable to suspect that he provided an advanced copy of that page of the paper for others to do whatever they wanted. 🤔

Normally I would also call the conspiracy stuff silly. But so often now the Trump administration has done the stupidest things to buy “just two weeks” as if expecting some undefined miracle to save them, then when it doesn’t just doubling down again and again. I could imagine them doing this.

It’s a static pic that could have been taken at any time, and just not used yet (possibly even for just this type of purpose). I’ll believe it’s real when I’m dead, because even if they had a video of him reading something from recent events out loud, there’s always the possibility it’s “AI” crap.
It does show yesterday’s WaPo sports page. It’s not proof but it was disappointing to confirm.
The fact that they clearly wanted to show the newspaper, like in a classic ransom photo, is pretty suspicious on its own.

I grabbed the latest photo from his official Senate website and it cuts off more of the paper. Why?
I looked to verify words and the length of the end of each paragraph against the pic. All checks out so far, but that just means they put enough work into it to get past a ten minute look from me.
CNN is owned by Warner Brothers Discovery, which is currently in the final stages of being bought by Paramount Skydance. Paramount had 60 Minutes pay a large bribe to Trump and got rid of Colbert to make sure their deal went through, so faking this is cheap and easy.

Must be nice to have access to good healthcare and be rich enough to just decide to set up camp in a private room at a hospital for a month when “nothing’s wrong.” Totally normal American experience right there.

They’re saying he was unconscious for a few minutes, several weeks ago.
It doesn’t matter how great your health care insurance is and how nice your hospital is, no one would be hanging around 3 weeks later. Even really nice hospitals are not nice places to spend any length of time. It’s noisy, disruptive, you can’t do any of the things you like to do, and there’s a lot of contagion risks and so on.
If it was just a matter of doing some tests they would have sent him home.

Theres some good points in the comments here so who knows if it was completely faked somehow, but if he really does look that good somehow and as the arricle states theres literally nothing wrong with him the entire time, then a month off sounds like a lot and he should be back to work this week right? In 2021, the American Heart Association clarified that “heart attack” is often mistakenly used to describe cardiac arrest. While a heart attack refers to death of heart muscle tissue as a result of blood supply loss, cardiac arrest is caused when the heart’s electrical system malfunctions. Furthermore, the American Heart Association explains that “if corrective measures are not taken rapidly, this condition progresses to sudden death. Cardiac arrest should be used to signify an event as described above, that is reversed, usually by CPR and/or defibrillation or cardioversion, or cardiac pacing. Sudden cardiac death should not be used to describe events that are not fatal”.

That is, if he was administered CPR or defibrillation and was revived, he probably had a cardiac arrest but not a heart attack. Or possibly he was having difficulty breathing and didn’t have a cardiac event at all.
OK I can see what you’re getting at, but if CPR was performed, it’s very difficult to believe an 84 year old didn’t have rib fractures at least.
